Mt. Canlaon Eruption

Updated: Dec 16, 2024

On Monday Dec. 9, Mt. Canlaon on the island of Negros where our Haven of Grace Camp and Seminary is located, spewed volcanic ash, rock, and toxic fumes over the island. This volcano is part of a mountain range that straddles the island and divides between east (Oriental) and west (Occidental). It is part of the pacific “ring of fire” for which the Philippines is well known. 90,000 people have been ordered to evacuate with some of them being Haven of Grace pastors and students. The next closest town to our main campus, Bago City, has been turned into an evacuation center. Please pray for our students and their churches that God will protect them and meet their needs at this Christmas time and that He will open gospel doors through this crisis.

PRMI is helping in a humanitarian way by sending funds to buy rice, water, and masks.  A 5 kilo bag of rice is only $6. If you would like to help please donate to our Disaster Relief Fund here https://app.easytithe.com/app/giving/prmi Any amount big or small will be a great help. Below are some images taken by Pastor Tonata, one of our students, who is closest to the volcano. He expressed his appreciation for the generosity of our PRMI donors and for the quick response. He was able to help his family and church members with food and masks.
