Recently, Pastor Tia, HOH Seminary Director, accompanied 4 students on a mission trip to Assam. Students ministered in churches through preaching, teaching, and singing; shared the gospel in villages; distributed Bibles to believers without one; and visited the home and village of one of our students—Joy. Below are some links to videos of the trip as well as a synopsis from Pastor Tia.
“I wanted to share a brief update about our recent gospel trip to Assam. By God’s grace, the preaching experience went very well. I traveled with four of our students, and we were blessed to witness God’s hand at work in a small but significant way. We visited a church that is one of only 21 in the area. this particular one was started back in 1936. It was both humbling and eye opening to see the spiritual condition there. From this church there is only one person who is studying the Bible and he is a student who is currently enrolled in our seminary. The rest of the churches lack biblically trained leaders, highlighting a desperate need for both Bible teaching and leadership development. During our time there, we distributed 30 Bibles (each costing around ₹400). The joy and gratitude on their faces were deeply moving they were so happy to receive the Word of God. Yet, the need remains vast. In the village we visited, only one or two youth typically graduate from high school. Most people work as daily laborers in the tea gardens, earning just around $2.60 a day. The church there is very poor and because of limited resources and leadership, it has not been able to grow. But in the midst of this, we see a great opportunity for gospel work. We also had the joy of giving sweets and candies to the children, meeting 2-3 local pastors, conducting youth service, and offering some donations to help the community. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.”
